The Cobb Institute conducts research that informs health policy-makers and serves as a vehicle for the discussion of relevant issues. The goal is to work together with the National Medical Association to influence and enhance the development of policies aimed at eliminating health disparities.

Equal treatment does not mean the same treatment. As we move toward the vision of personalized medicine, it is clear that the "one size fits all" approach to medical care is no longer tenable. Therefore, to fulfill its mission to eliminate health disparities, the Cobb/NMA Health Institute will develop an extensive library of information relating both to the health status and to previously evaluated interventions shown to be beneficial in the care of African Americans. The Cobb data repository will serve as a resource for all who care for those patients.
