Cobb Institute "Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities"

The Cobb Institute proudly announces that our inaugural issue of the "Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities" will be available in the 1st quarter 2014. Stay connected with the launch of this unique publication via the Cobb Institute website as well as the NMA website. Members of the NMA will have unlimited access to the content and will receive e-invitations with instructions on setting up your user account. We are proud of our new partnership with the Springer Publishing Company that has allowed The Cobb Institute to forge ahead with this initiative.

The Cobb Institute is building the infrastructure to conduct cutting edge research examining the on-going ramifications of race, ethnicity, gender and poverty on access to health care and health outcomes.

Health Policy

The Cobb Institute conducts research that informs health policy-makers and serves as a vehicle for the discussion of relevant issues. The goal is to work together with the National Medical Association to influence and enhance the development of policies aimed at eliminating health disparities.

Data Repository

Equal treatment does not mean the same treatment. As we move toward the vision of personalized medicine, it is clear that the "one size fits all" approach to medical care is no longer tenable. Therefore, to fulfill its mission to eliminate health disparities, the Cobb/NMA Health Institute will develop an extensive library of information relating both to the health status and to previously evaluated interventions shown to be beneficial in the care of African Americans. The Cobb data repository will serve as a resource for all who care for those patients.
