Cedric M. Bright, MD is a Staff Physician at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham, NC, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Duke University. He has been an active member of many professional organizations and has served on national and local committees.  Dr Bright was the president for the Durham Academy of Medicine Dentistry and Pharmacy from 1999-2002 and then again from 2003-2004. He has been a member of the Society of General Medicine since 1994 and has participated as a member of the national CME committee during 2000-2004.He also was and still is a member of the SGIM’s Minorities in Medicine Interest Group and the Health Disparities Task Force. Dr Bright was recognized for his academic success by being asked to participate in the review of abstracts and workshops for the 2001 SGIM meeting in San Diego .Dr Bright has been a member of the National Medical Association (NMA) and the Old North State Medical Society since 1998. In the NMA, Dr bright has served as a delegate to the House of Delegates (HOD) since 2000. He was elected in 2004 to become the Secretary to the HOD.
